Now that you have your free Microsoft Office 365 account you have access to 5GB of cloud storage space on OneDrive.
Storing your files in the cloud makes sense as you can access the files from anywhere and if you accidently delete a file on your computer there should always be a copy of it sitting online in Microsoft OneDrive.
Accessing OneDrive
Once you have logged into your Office 365 account you can access One Drive in 1 of 2 ways:
- From the menu that you see on the left hand side you should be able to see an icon that looks like a cloud. If you hover it, it should say OneDrive. Simply click on this.

2. Alternatively click on the 9 dots at the top left of the page which will open up another menu. In the menu look for the cloud icon which says OneDrive next to it and click on this.

Once you have clicked on the button you will be taken to the main OneDrive page which should look similar to the image below.

The menu on the left provides you with links to:
- My files (where all your files are kept)
- Recent (a list of recent files that you have created or edited)
- Photos (a list of pictures that you have stored)
- Shared (a list of files that are shared with other people or shared with you)
- Recycle bin (a list of files that have been recently deleted)

Just below the top bar there are 2 x buttons labelled ‘New’ and ‘Upload’.

Clicking on the ‘New’ button will allow you to create a new file or folder within your OneDrive.

You can choose to create a new Folder to help organise your work or simply create a new Word or PowerPoint document if that is what you want to create.
The Upload button can be used to upload files or folders that you already have on your computer into your OneDrive storage.

The main section of OneDrive is the ‘My files’ section where you can see a listing of all your existing files and folders.

If you have just setup your account you will only see the following files and folders.
In this page we’ve given you a brief overview of how to access Microsoft OneDrive from Office 365 and given you a very brief overview of the features that you see when you first log in.
